For almost 100 years, the lighthouse was run by families living on the barren and windswept island. Even a school was run for the children on the island until 1938. The families grew vegetables on garden plots using topsoil transported from the mainland. But it was more difficult to find the seven types of midsummer flowers and fences to jump over in the mythical midsummer night. Nevertheless, Midsummer has also been celebrated out here, with fiddlers, midsummer pole, herring and nubbe, laughter and dancing on the rocks well into the bright summer night.
Enjoy a lovely and relaxing midsummer day surrounded by beautiful scenery and good food. Experience the authentic atmosphere and the old traditions that are still an important part of the celebrations in this place. The buildings have been carefully renovated to create an idyllic place where the light is brighter, the wind fresher, the water crystal clear and the seafood fresher.
