We would like to thank you for checking in with us. Your visit directly contributes to our commitment to preserving our oceans. Please learn more about our sponsorship of Green Cubes through our movie here.
Our business is committed to preserving our oceans at all levels. Just as Pater Noster lighthouse symbolizes being a beacon for seafarers, we strive to be a beacon for climate action to raise awareness and act for change.
We are proud to be the world's first sponsor of Green Cubes, a Greentech initiative led by Hexagon subsidiary R-Evolution, which focuses on combating ocean acidification by supporting sustainable forestry in Costa Rica.
The link between deforestation and ocean acidification is unavoidable. As CO2 levels rise, the pH of the ocean changes to dangerous levels for marine species. During the lighthouse-keeping families' time out here, they fed on shellfish such as crabs, crayfish and lobsters, and today these delicacies are still at the center of our cuisine. But today, these species are under threat - without action, increased acidity will affect marine life, including preventing our lobsters from forming their shells.
For every cubic meter of living space at Pater Noster, we invest in an equivalent amount of rainforest. Through Green Cubes , we help local forest owners and farmers in Costa Rica implement sustainable practices that combat climate change and strengthen ecosystems. Green Cubes also provides important data for scientists to better understand and combat climate change, based on their carefully developed methodology.
